Padma Shri Sanjay Dhande is an eminent educationist who was the director of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Prof. Sanjay Dhande is also the Chairman of Board of Governors of National Institute of Technology Delhi and National Institute of Industrial Engineering.

Prof. Sanjay Dhande served as a member of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and has also been a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.

He formed the PDPM Indian Institute of Information Technology Design & Manufacturing, Jabalpur and the Indian Institute of Saddlery Technology and Export Management.

Prof. Sanjay Dhande is an innovative technologist, acclaimed academician, an eminent researcher and an able administrator and was conferred the Padmashri award in 2013.

He served as a sole owner, CEO and president of Ceramatec Inc, where he grew the company 300% over a short time span of 8 years. Ceramatec Inc. was acquired by CoorsTek, the largest technical ceramics company in the world.

Dr. Joshi has been a serial entrepreneur with more than ten ventures under his belt. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Salt Lake Community College and the Indian Cultural Center of Utah.

He was appointed as a member of the advisory board to the president of Westminster College.

He also served as a board member of the Industrial Research Institute in Washington DC.In recognition of his accomplishments and service, he has received a number of awards including Utah Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology, Industrial Research Institute Achievement award, Asian of the Year Award by the Utah Chamber of Commerce and Utah Pioneer Award.

Prof. Prabhat Ranjan, was heading India’s Technology Think Tank, TIFAC. During his tenure TIFAC prepared ‘Technology Vision 2035’ document, which is now being used to plan the S&T trajectory of India.

Prof. Ranjan is a Nuclear Fusion Scientist and worked in National and International Labs in India and USA and made major contributions to this field for nearly two decades.

He was Project Leader at Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar till 2002. After this, he served as Professor at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of ICT in Gandhinagar for 11 years.

His remarkable innovative contributions include India’s Moon Mission, Wildlife and Agriculture sector.

He is particularly known for his innovations in the field of assistive technology that has helped to put smiles on the faces of persons with a severe disability.

He had obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1986 and did college education from IIT Kharagpur and University of Delhi.

Prof. Shekhar Chaudhuri is a B.Tech (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a Fellow of IIM Ahmedabad with specialization in Business Policy.

He taught at IIMA from March 1981 till November 2002. During May 2000 till December 2001 he was the Dean of the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur and was the Director of IIM Calcutta.

The institute is currently the only institution in India to be accredited by AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. In 2012 IIM Calcutta was invited to be the only member of CEMS, which is a consortium of around 30 business schools across Europe, USA, Australia and Asia.

In his capacity as Director, IIM Calcutta he was also the Mentor Director of IIM, Ranchi. Prof. Chaudhuri has been a Senior Fulbright Fellow at U. C. Berkeley, U.S.A.; Visiting Scholar at the Twente University of Technology, Enschede, Netherlands; Visiting Professor of Strategic Management in the College of Business and Administration, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois, USA (1989-1991)

Dr. Anil Rajvanshi’s pioneering rural development work for the last three decades has spanned a whole spectrum of areas affecting the lives of rural population: renewable energy-based cooking and lighting; power generation from agricultural residues; renewable fuel production from agriculture; electric cycle rickshaws; water purification and effluent treatment through the use of renewable energy.

He is the first person to promote the use of high technology for rural development – an idea that is in vogue nowadays.

Dr. Rajvanshi went to the United States to pursue higher studies at the University of Florida following his bachelor and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from I.I.T. Kanpur. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1979, he taught at the University of Florida

Dr. Rajvanshi established the energy and sustainable development work at Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) at Phaltan, Maharashtra.

He is the principal author (1996) of national policy on energy self-sufficient Taluka which is being managed by MNRE. This is the precursor of the National Biomass power plant program and was probably the inspiration behind the PURA program.

Dr. Rajvanshi’s group pioneered the development of electric rickshaws in the 1990s. He was the first person to initiate a program of e-rickshaws in the country-which are in vogue nowadays

He developed a unique program of improving cooking and lighting technology for rural areas. Consequently, his group developed the multi-fuel Noorie lantern, multi-fuel Lanstove and the whole issue of rural lighting and cooking technology strategy including the concept of rural restaurants.

He pioneered in late 1990s the concept of using ethanol as cooking and lighting fuel for rural areas. This strategy has been copied and promoted all over the world by institutes like the World Bank and cooking stove Alliance of UN.

In the early 1990s, his group at NARI set up the world’s largest program on the production of ethanol from sweet sorghum. Their sweet sorghum varieties have been tested in about a dozen countries. This work helped start the national program on sweet sorghum managed by ICAR, Government of India and being carried out in many universities and research centers

He and his group pioneered the development of loose biomass gasification system. NARI was the first Institute in the world to develop 500 kW (thermal) sugarcane leaves gasifier in 1995. This development helped spawn such development efforts all over India.

He has pioneered the development of low cost solar-based water purifiers and solar-powered petal collectors of safflower.

His efforts have shown how a small rural S&T Institute working on a shoestring budget can pioneer technologies for rural India and has inspired similar efforts in India and the world

Dr. Rajvanshi received the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Award for the use of science and technology in rural India from Dr. Manmohan Singh

In 1998, he became the second Indian to be inducted in the U.S.-based Solar Hall of Fame. His efforts led to NARI getting FICCI Platinum Jubilee Award in 2002 from Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee.

His work on ethanol lanstove was given the 2009 Globe Forum Award for sustainability research in Stockholm from HRH Crown Princess Victoria

In 2014, he became the first Indian to receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award of University of Florida, USA and is listed as notable alumni of IIT Kanpur.

He has delivered prestigious endowed lectures and his achievements have been covered in mass media both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Rajvanshi has served on many committees like Planning Commission, Advisory Board on Energy, MNRE, MERC, etc

He has more than 230 publications, some of them in prestigious national and international journals, seven patents, five books, and various chapters in books
